Born from experiences of personal grief and witnessing the grief of my friends...

This brand was born from personal experience. After the loss of a deeply loved pet, I found myself navigating a kind of grief that felt invisible to others. It was profound, yet largely unrecognised—a form of disenfranchised grief that left me feeling both isolated and uncertain in my own emotions. While sympathy cards are readily given for many types of loss, this experience revealed how some forms of love, and therefore loss, are quietly overlooked.

At the same time, I witnessed close friends moving through the pain of relationship breakdowns—another deeply human and all too common experience. The pain of heartbreak is rarely acknowledged in meaningful, tangible ways. This made me think about how it would be a beneficial thing if break-up support cards existed to help people support their friends through their grief. Many of us want to offer comfort, but we find ourselves searching for the right words and coming up short.

These moments sparked a question: what if there were a way to say what so often goes unsaid?

The Letter Writer was created to answer that question.

Rooted in empathy, shaped by real experiences, and guided by the belief that words, when chosen with care, can bring comfort, connection, and meaning.

Because sometimes, the most powerful thing we can give is simply this:

“I see you. I’m here. You’re not alone.”

The creative process behind The Letter Writer comes from combining my love for quotes, poetry, literature and marrying the magic of words with the ephemeral beauty of antique, classical and historic art. 

I find great joy in designing these cards for the less-spoken chapters of life. Finding the right words and pairing them with great artworks. Each piece is carefully considered, with the intention of offering not just words, but recognition. And to offer a spark of beauty - to bring brightness to a moment of darkness.

The artwork you’ll find throughout The Letter Writer is drawn from a deep appreciation of classical and historical art—pieces that have endured across time, carrying with them the emotional weight, beauty, and humanity of generations past. Each image is thoughtfully selected to complement the sentiment it holds, allowing these timeless works to be experienced in a new, intimate way. In doing so, The Letter Writer quietly honours the artists and stories that came before us, while reintroducing their work into the present moment—where it can continue to be felt, shared, and remembered.
